Shall I chat about prisons in the UK? Will that irk a bunch of folks?
Alright then, let’s dive in. UK prisons are currently crammed, far from safe, and running low on staff. Why, you ask? Well, it’s all thanks to years of tightfisted funding. Can we spot a recurring theme in a government that’s been penny-pinching for more than 13 years?
Austerity has nudged up the crime rate, folks are struggling financially, the wealthy keep piling up their riches, and our justice services are left parched for resources, repeatedly missing their marks. Cameron and Clegg had it wrong; austerity hasn’t done the trick. Thanks a bunch for the poverty, fellas.
Now, here’s a confession – I’ve never cast a vote for those Conservative Tory chaps, not even pondered it. Some might call that bias. Truth be told, I’ve got little patience for cruelty, racism, bashing the less fortunate, xenophobia, and all-around loutish behavior – just like those Brexit enthusiasts.
I’m not stifling their right to speak their minds, but I do exercise my own right to hold my beliefs. These old ways of thinking deserve a good ribbing, a protest or two, and a good holler in the streets of Westminster.
Our human rights are on the line here, and wouldn’t you know it, the Tories are toying with the idea of tossing their international law agreement aside. Isn’t that a bit like blackmail? Don’t we have rules to rein in this sort of behavior from the government? Might be worth a gander, don’t you think?
