Seems a bit daft, doesn’t it? Britain having once had an empire, but struggling to put up a decent school these days?
I suppose I’m a bit sorry for not being more vocal when our country had its bouts of racism. My forebears couldn’t really do much back then; they didn’t have the vote and didn’t own much land.
Our Parliament, well, it’s quite the old institution, built on empire, monarchy, and even oppressing our own lot. It’s had its fair share of animosity towards anyone different, hasn’t it? It’s like that mum who locks her kid in a dark room just for a laugh.
It’s a challenge to believe that the wealthy still care about us common folk. The famous bunch doesn’t seem to speak up much, probably worried about the Daily Mail having a go at them.
I’m all for reining in that self-regulatory “gentleman’s handshake” journalism. They all seem to come from the same school, you know.
And speaking of the Daily Mail, remember that one of the Rothermeres back in the day had a soft spot for those blackshirts. Keep that in mind when you read that rag.
