My ears aren’t like a voting booth; they’re more like a one-person show.
I’d rather not hear from folks who fear different cultures, dislike trans individuals, have issues with LGBTQ+ folks, are sexist, racist, or any other kind of -ist. I’m not interested in what keeps you up at night; let’s not be overly sensitive.
But if you’re worried about snakes, heights, deep water, health, the environment, weather, your grandkids’ future, or your own mortality, I’m all ears. I’ll lend you my empathy and time.
Here’s my global advice: Let’s give the boot to those self-serving, rule-breaking politicians who’ve misused our resources and put climate change on the back burner, and make them earn our votes, make them pay attention.
My ears and mind aren’t a democracy. When someone talks about freedom of speech, we should remember that it also means the freedom not to listen. Anything else would be fascism.
