Uncle Bert

Describe a family member.

Back in the 80s I had a great uncle, in his 80s. He grumbled and muttered that he “may not be Buddha, but could try to act like one”.

He liked the Daily Star, right lefty but liked a good laugh. He saw world war 2, had a great time too, he was on the winning side.

He had his views, they scared teenage me into recluse. Could never shake the poison of tabloid abuse.

He died in the 80s aged somewhere in his 80s. His heart went pop in the co-op and didn’t come back again.

I didn’t know him well, people from back then were a different breed. Those that knew first hand world wars 1 & 2.
